In that of Manhattan the atmosphere is preparing to be coloured in green. Coming in 2016 a new green lung that will be the rival to Central Park will be added to the existing lots gardens and green spaces of New York skyscrapers.
After the High Line, the magnificent elevated park built by former abandoned rails of a train station in the west centre of the metropolis, a new imposing and revolutionary project with Hudson River Park as main character will rise. A different concept from the usual hanging garden, a green oasis on the water.
Up to the 14th Street, it will be realized in fact a hanging water park that will host not only plants, but also an amphitheatre and an auditorium. A whole green area suspended over the water connected to the mainland by two wooden walkways that will occupy an area of over 11 thousand square meters.
An important project that, once created, will become the largest water park in New York.
Sponsor of the project are once again the entertainment mogul Barry Diller and his wife, the designer Diane Von Furstenberg, very committed about the requalification of the green areas into disuse.
A revolutionary hanging park in the nerve centre of the American metropolis will become a viable alternative to the jogging paradise that is Central Park.
The construction of the new Hudson River Park will be a real challenge from many points of view, including especially the environment, the project is in fact entirely green and hurricane proof.
The Hudson River Park will stand on a rolling basis with no less than 300 reinforced concrete columns, from 5 to 25 meters high above the water level. The support platform was designed in order to be able to protect all the sea environment, including aquatic flora and fauna.
Innovation, technology and respect of the environment are the perfect example of how architecture can fully integrate with the surrounding greenery, requalifying the environment.
The start of the work is planned for the 2016 and, if there are no hitches, for 2018 we could enjoy a green oasis on the Hudson River.
The degree of civilization and modernity of a city is measured especially in important interventions that improve the quality of life and fruition of the services of its citizens, New York has always been pioneer in this aspect and this incredible project it is only the confirmation.
