Prestigious Lebanese ski area, Faraya is a high mountain village which is only 30 km away from the Mediterranean sea. Mild summers, cold and snowy winters make it a perfect holiday destination for the inhabitants of the coast and of the nearby capital Beirut. It is precisely here that Sandrini Green Architecture, in collaboration with JSBC Arz Faraya, has re-qualified a green area of about 13,000 square meters at a height between 1800 and 2300 metres to enhance the beauty of one of the most renowned tourist villages in Lebanon.
The request:
Skiing in winter, diving into the Mediterranean sea in summer. This is possible in Faraya, in the District of Keserwan Beirut, governorate of Mount Lebanon, one of the country’s most famous winter and summer attractions. Sandrini’s mission was to create a typically alpine landscape for the tourist village, which would meet the picturesque aesthetics of the mountain hut with perfect vegetation both for the warm summer sceneries and for the snowy winter landscapes.
The design:
The project wanted to faithfully recreate a representation of the summer and winter panorama of the Swiss Alps, through a typically mountainous botanical choice. In particular, we tried to preserve and maintain the existing vegetation by integrating it with pines and forest, along the access road to the village, as well as all around the villas. It is in this way that Sandrini brings his inimitable Made in Italy style to Lebanon and proudly announces the completion of the first private gardens. Work also began on the construction of the temporary nursery, which saw the inclusion of an exclusively Italian vegetation along the main avenues of the ski area thanks to the collaboration with Vannucci Piante.
